Giclee

Gicl'ee reproduction on velvety watercolor papers and canvas enable photographers to print an image with a new feel. Gicl'ee (pronounced "zhee-clay") fine art prints have the look and feel of an original piece of art. Because no screens are used the prints have a higher apparent resolution than offset lithographs. Gicl'ees are created by an extraordinarily fine spray of ink which delivers more than four million droplets per second. Each droplet is about the size of a red blood cell, resulting in the appearance a continuous-tone print. "Incredible!" is the usual response.

My Gicl'ees are printed on acid free,100% cotton  richly textured canvas. They are hand coated for water proofing with gloss varnish. They resist curling and cracking and are excellent for stretching. The finish is non-yellowing & has an anticipated fade resistance of 100 years when displayed under proper conditions.

THE GICL'EE CREATION PROCESS   My Gicl'ees are processed at the Fine Print Imaging in Ft. Collins, Colorado. I provide them with an original artwork (usually a 4 x 5 transparency or slide in excellent condition), each image is digitalized with a drum scanner and custom profiling specifically developed for the equipment which will be used for the printing is applied.

After the raw scan has been captured, it is then optimized in Photoshop specifically for gicl'ee output. A technician carefully prepare the image for gicl'ee output and minute details of the image are scrutinized at high resolution. To ensure consistently accurate color.
